Diane Laferriere Catering Sales Manager
The Courtyard’s Catering Sales Manager, Diane Laferriere says “Life Begins at 40”. Diane began her catering sales experience with the Crystal City Marriott 17 years ago at the ripe young age of 40. Since then she has honed her catering skills at both large corporate hotels in the Northern Virginia area and small boutique hotels on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
From large corporate meetings and receptions to social events of any type or size, Diane’s experience, expert knowledge and personal flair will make any event a complete success. Her attention to detail from the beginning creative stage of an event until the last guest leaves ensures that every client receives the best in food and customer service.
Executive Chef and Director of Food and Beverage Daniel Kim
Executive Chef Daniel Kim joined the Courtyard by Marriott in Tyson’s Corner in the summer of 2009. With a background of cooking professionally for over 14 years, Chef Daniel Kim has been able to bring a wide variety fine cuisine from around the world to center stage at the Courtyard hotel. From a humble beginning as a dishwasher, Chef Daniel worked his way up through the culinary ranks. In 2002 he graduated from the Culinary Institute of America.
After graduation, Chef Daniel arrived in Washington DC working for the Hyatt Regency on Capital Hill. He moved on to the Omni Shoreham Hotel, a four star, four diamond hotel, Chef Kim was able to broaden his culinary skills while cooking for various members of Congress along with all 12 candidates for the Democratic Party’s Presidential nomination, a 1700 person event, attended by numerous celebrities and guests.
Chef Kim joined the B.F. Saul Company in the spring of 2005 and worked at the Crowne Plaza Washington National Hotel for over four years. During his tenure, Chef Kim shared a great deal of success with his team boasting a long reign of high guest satisfaction scores and impressive revenue growth in the Food and Beverage Department.
Now as newly appointed Executive Chef and Director of Food and Beverage at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Tyson’s Corner, Chef Kim brings many years of success and passion to the Food and Beverage operation for this fine hotel. “Enjoying good food is a journey. When you are finished, the experience should make you feel like you have accomplished something and you can’t wait to have more of that feeling.” -Chef Daniel Kim. Raised in South Georgia, Chef Daniel is well steeped in classic southern cuisine. Along with his appreciation for his Korean heritage and cuisine, he has been able to create unique and delicious foods utilizing ingredients from around the world.
